Standard Chartered Ultimate Credit Card: full review
The SC Ultimate is one of India's most rewarding premium cards. The 3.33% flat rate with 1 RP = ₹1 redemption is unmatched at the ₹5,000 fee tier, and domestic and international lounge access add travel value. Welcome RP covers the joining fee entirely. No rewards on fuel and the lower 2% on utilities and supermarkets are the main drawbacks.

Pros and cons
Pros
✓ Best flat reward rate among non-invite-only Indian premium cards at 3.33%
✓ 1 RP = ₹1, most premium cards offer ₹0.20–₹0.25 per RP
✓ Welcome RP exactly covers joining fee: Year 1 is effectively free
✓ Still earns 2% on utilities and supermarkets, where most cards earn little
Cons
✗ 3 RP (not 5 RP) on utilities, supermarkets, insurance, schools, government from Apr 2023
✗ Fuel excluded from rewards entirely, only 1% fuel surcharge waiver
✗ Lounge visits are limited, not unlimited
✗ Available only in select metro cities

Corrected from Standard Chartered's card page: utilities and supermarkets earn 3 points per ₹150, which is 2% at ₹1 a point. Our maths counted 1% on groceries and nothing on utility bills. The bank's value chart counts 6 domestic lounge visits a year, not 16.
