Grace period

The grace period is the interest-free window between your purchase date and your payment due date, typically 20 to 50 days depending on when in the billing cycle you make the purchase. If you pay your full statement balance by the due date, you pay no interest on that period's purchases at all. This grace period only applies if you paid your previous bill in full; if you are carrying forward a balance, new purchases usually start accruing interest immediately, with no grace period.

Frequently asked questions
No, cash advances never get a grace period, and if you are carrying a balance from the previous cycle, new purchases typically lose the interest-free window too.
Making a large purchase right after your billing cycle starts (rather than right before it ends) maximises the interest-free window, since you get the full cycle plus the time until the due date.
