Co-branded credit card

A co-branded credit card is issued jointly by a bank and a partner brand, an airline, e-commerce platform, or retailer, offering accelerated rewards specifically on that partner's platform, in exchange for a somewhat narrower overall value proposition elsewhere. These cards make the most sense if you already spend heavily and repeatedly with that specific partner, since the accelerated rate there often outperforms a general-purpose card, but the same card is usually a weaker all-round choice for spending outside that partner ecosystem.

Frequently asked questions
Usually not, the whole value proposition is concentrated on that specific partner, so if you do not spend there regularly, a general-purpose card will likely serve you better.
The issuing bank handles all card-related service (billing, limits, disputes), while the partner brand typically only handles its own loyalty programme (miles, points redemption on their platform).
