Credit card revolving debt typically carries an APR of 36-45% or more in India, compounding every month on whatever balance you carry. A personal loan from a regulated bank or NBFC often runs meaningfully lower, even after processing fees, which is why paying off a card this way can genuinely save real money, not just feel cheaper.
A personal loan also does something converting to EMI doesn't. It clears your card balance entirely, freeing your full credit limit immediately, rather than keeping a chunk of it blocked until an EMI is fully repaid. If your utilisation has been running high, that's a real, secondary benefit on top of the interest saved.
The rates shown here are each lender's starting rate, not a guarantee. Your actual offer depends on your credit score, income, and the lender's own underwriting. If your card's rate is closer to these numbers than to a typical card APR, it's also worth considering a balance transfer to a lower-rate card instead, which can sometimes beat a personal loan for a large existing balance.
