DICGC
DICGC stands for Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the RBI that insures bank deposits, including savings accounts and fixed deposits, up to ₹5 lakh per depositor per bank. This matters directly for FD-secured credit cards: since your credit limit is backed by a fixed deposit, DICGC insurance means that deposit (principal plus interest, up to the ₹5 lakh cap) stays protected even if the bank itself runs into trouble. If you hold FDs across multiple banks, the ₹5 lakh limit applies separately to each one.
